Position Summary

As part of Cigna Pharmacy Management, the Cigna Pharmacy Sales & Account Management (CP-SAM) Senior Manager serves as the leader of pharmacy benefits strategy and the main pharmacy subject matter expert. The role involves partnering with the leadership of the Cigna Medical Sales organization in the West Region, focusing on Middle Market and Select Segment clients.

The CP-SAM Senior Manager will develop and maintain relationships within the assigned markets, including internal stakeholders (the Market Growth Lead and the Sales team), external clients, and broker/consultant partners to support client retention and growth strategies. Responsibilities include leading a team of Pharmacy Clinical Account Managers and/or Pharmacy Account Executives, collaborating closely with Medical Sales leadership, and executing pharmacy carve-in strategies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Retain the assigned book of business through proactive portfolio management, understanding pharmacy pricing, products, and performance guarantees.
  • Collaborate with Medical Sales, Pharmacy partners, clients, and brokers to optimize pharmacy benefits and promote preferred programs.
  • Educate the Medical Sales organization and local markets on pharmacy topics.
  • Develop and maintain a market-specific pharmacy business plan to outline sales and training strategies.
  • Offer and sell pharmacy management programs aligned with Cigna’s goal of lowering total health costs.
  • Provide leadership to the in-market Pharmacy team, including hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching.
  • Ensure successful client pharmacy implementations, renewals, and benefit plan changes.
Additional Responsibilities

Develop market-specific pharmacy service plans, manage client assignments, support team management, and maintain knowledge of products and market trends. Build relationships with brokers and represent Cigna Pharmacy Management in local events.

For Clients
  • Lead planning and strategy for client RFPs and bids.
  • Understand client needs and educate teams on pharmacy management options.
  • Support Medical Sales with escalated pharmacy issues and monitor sales activities.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of PBM experience, preferably in management and market strategy.
  • Extensive pharmacy background, either as a pharmacist or non-pharmacist.
  • Experience with client management, PBM pricing, and contracting strategies.
  • Strong operational and clinical knowledge, especially in Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Ability to work independently, create and execute business plans.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and results-driven mindset.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% seasonally.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
