Position Summary

As part of Cigna Pharmacy Management, the Cigna Pharmacy Sales & Account Management (CP-SAM) Senior Manager serves as the leader of pharmacy benefits strategy and main pharmacy subject matter expert. This role involves working in partnership with the leadership of the Cigna Medical Sales organization in the West Region, supporting Middle Market and Select Segment clients.

The CP-SAM Senior Manager will develop and maintain relationships within the assigned markets, engaging with internal stakeholders, external clients, and broker/consultant partners to enhance client retention and growth strategies. They will lead a team of Pharmacy Clinical Account Managers and/or Pharmacy Account Executives, aligning results with Cigna's strategic goals. The role includes active in-market participation, collaboration with Medical Sales leadership, and developing market-specific strategies for pharmacy carve-in and other initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Retaining the assigned book of business through proactive portfolio management and understanding of pharmacy pricing, products, and performance guarantees.
  • Collaborating with Medical Sales, internal Pharmacy partners, clients, and brokers to optimize pharmacy benefits and penetration of preferred programs.
  • Educating the Medical Sales organization and local markets about pharmacy topics.
  • Developing and maintaining a market-specific pharmacy business plan to drive sales and training strategies.
  • Selling pharmacy management programs that support Cigna's goal of lowering total health costs.
  • Leading and supporting the pharmacy team in the market, including hiring, onboarding, and coaching.
  • Ensuring successful client onboarding, renewals, and benefit plan changes, with risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities Also Include

For the Market:

  • Developing and executing pharmacy service plans aligned with market goals.
  • Managing client assignments and supporting the pharmacy team.
  • Understanding market competition and assisting in sales strategies.
  • Building relationships with brokers and consultants as the market SME.

For The Clients:

  • Leading planning and strategy for RFPs and bids, including pricing and final presentations.
  • Understanding client needs and providing strategic pharmacy management options.
  • Supporting Medical Sales teams with escalated pharmacy issues.
  • Monitoring sales activities and ensuring successful pharmacy implementations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of PBM experience, with management and strategic planning expertise.
  • Extensive pharmacy background, pharmacist or non-pharmacist.
  • Experience with client management methodologies and PBM strategies.
  • Strong operational knowledge of PBM clinical programs, especially in Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Ability to work independently, create and execute business plans.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% seasonally.
  • Management experience preferred.
