Job description

We are looking for a Pharmacy Manager to join Amazon Pharmacy to oversee operations and compliance of a small format pharmacy site.

At Amazon Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager is a licensed Pharmacist responsible for the operation oversight and compliance, including safety, quality, customer experience, budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. The Pharmacy Manager leads a small team of technicians and pharmacists, coaches and mentors the team to ensure performance objectives are met, builds positive employee relations, and strengthens leadership bench strength within the organization.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the operations.
  • Manage daily operations within the site, including meeting CPT times for same day deliveries, in partnership with co‑located facilities and transportation.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration. Make recommendations for therapy changes to the prescriber as appropriate.
  • Set and clarify requirements and expectations for employees. Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold the team to a high bar.
  • Educate pharmacy staff on policies, reporting guidelines, and expectations as they relate to best quality practices.
  • Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the site to meet and exceed the operating plan.
  • Manage workflow, escalations and effectively delegate across your leadership team in partnership with the Senior Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Stay informed and adhere to local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices, including changes or developments and their impact on Amazon Pharmacy and its customers.
  • Coordinate with the corporate legal team to maintain licensure of the pharmacy and its staff with various state pharmacy boards and continuously monitor licensure requirements.
  • Align policies and initiatives with requirements and demands of accrediting/licensing bodies (BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, USP).
  • Responsible for the site’s growth and partner with capacity planning and facilities for all growth workforce management needs.
  • Develop talent – create, lead, engage with and direct a workforce to drive enhanced performance through our people agenda, covering safety of our people, employee engagement, performance leadership, training and development, and talent & succession planning.
  • Implement change and/or develop new processes to better serve customers, reduce cost to serve and improve contribution.
  • Maintain the customer’s profile through leveraging our PharmacyOS/Pharmacy Lite database to include appropriate current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over‑the‑counter and home remedies).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Active/Good Standing Pharmacist license in domicile state.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety; experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem‑solve, support scope of requirements and prioritize.
  • Ability to manage detail, establish root cause and extract and manipulate data.
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • 1 year Staff Pharmacist experience within Amazon Pharmacy (if currently an Amazon employee).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations; demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Analytical thinker with project management skills, attention to detail, ability to influence others, and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.
