Job summary

Amazon Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Manager in the United States to oversee the operations of a small-format pharmacy site, lead a team of technicians and pharmacists, and ensure safety, quality, and customer experience from prescription initiation to fulfillment.

The role requires a licensed Pharmacist with a Doctorate or PharmD or equivalent, strong leadership, and knowledge of regulatory requirements across state and federal levels.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Active/Good Standing Pharmacist license in the domicile state.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, support scope of requirements and prioritize.
  • Ability to manage detail, establish root cause and extract and manipulate data.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the operations.
  • Manage daily operations within the site, including meeting CPT times for same-day deliveries, in partnership with co-located facilities and transportation.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration.
  • Set and clarify requirements and expectations for employees; measure performance, provide feedback and hold the team to a high bar.
  • Educate pharmacy staff on policies, reporting guidelines, and expectations related to best quality practices.
  • Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the site to meet and exceed the operating plan.
  • Manage workflow, escalations and delegate across leadership in partnership with the Sr Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Stay informed and adhere to local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices and manage the impact on Amazon Pharmacy and its customers.
  • Coordinate with the corporate legal team to maintain licensure of the pharmacy and its staff with various state pharmacy boards; continuously monitor licensure requirements.
  • Align policies and initiatives with requirements and demands of accrediting/licensing bodies (BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, USP).
  • Responsible for the site’s growth and partner with capacity planning and facilities for all workforce management needs.
  • Develop talent by creating, leading, engaging with, and directing a workforce to achieve enhanced performance, safety of our people, employee engagement, performance leadership, training, development, and talent & succession planning.
  • Implement change or develop new processes as required to better serve customers, reduce cost to serve and improve contribution.
  • Maintain the customer’s profile through PharmacyOS/Pharmacy Lite database to include current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over-the-counter and home remedies).
  • Other duties as assigned.

At Amazon Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager is a licensed Pharmacist who is responsible for the operation oversight and compliance of a small format pharmacy site, including safety, quality, customer experience, budgetary, people development and operations objectives. The Pharmacy Manager will lead a small team of technicians and pharmacists, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the organization. This role requires hands‑on involvement in the operation, handling tasks ranging from dispensing medications to managing the entire process of prescription fulfillment, ensuring completion from initiation to the final stage: filling, verifying, and packing orders for shipment and pharmacist verification. The Pharmacy Manager will have a strong commitment to patient safety and high standards of service to deliver on being the earth’s most customer‑centric pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Active/Good Standing Pharmacist license in the domicile state.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • 1 year Staff Pharmacist experience within Amazon Pharmacy (if currently an Amazon employee).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

The base salary range for this position is $108,000.00 – $146,200.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
