Job summary

Walgreens Pharmacy in Texas seeks a Pharmacy Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure compliance, and drive patient care excellence across immunizations, counseling, and medication management.

You will lead pharmacy staff, optimize workflow, manage inventory and insurance claims, and partner with providers to expand health and wellness services in the community. This role requires a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy and active licensure.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD and licensed in the states within the district.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
• At least 1 year pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and insurance billing.
• Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
• An average rating of at least 3.0 on the leadership behaviors on the last performance review if one is on file, and no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (Internal candidates only).

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, and OTC products.
• Performs compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
• Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescribed medications, as required.
• Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies and standards; establishes procedures that promote efficient workflow and oversees staff scheduling, roles, and coordination.
• Ensures the use of Good Faith Dispensing elements with state and federal laws.
• Collaborates with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems, workflow, billing, documentation, training, inventory management, and POS; supports staff and patients with IT.
• Ensures insurance claims are processed to prevent rejections and resolves issues with providers.
• Follows up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and suggest alternatives; provides immunizations, testing, and wellness services.
• Performs clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
• Manages virtual product reviews in some environments following company procedures.
• Oversees maintenance and improvement of the pharmacy department including repairs, layout changes, and equipment updates.
