Position: Inventory Coordinator (Pharmacy)


**Summary**

Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medications and supplies to meet patient needs daily. Processes orders and requests from hospital departments to ensure effective operation.


**Job Duties**

  1. Coordinates pharmacy department inventory and compiles reports on findings. Manages inventory reports and drug recalls.
  2. Notifies pharmacy managers and clinical staff of drug recalls and expeditiously removes recalled products from stock, ensuring appropriate paperwork is completed. Communicates backorders in a timely manner to key stakeholders.
  3. Maintains appropriate medication inventory levels without overstocking or shortages.
  4. Communicates supply issues (shortages, generic availability, etc.) to the clinical management team promptly and during weekly meetings. Coordinates removal of outdated inventory.
  5. Engages with industry representatives to stay informed on drug distribution issues and availabilities. Places orders with wholesalers and specialty distributors per department policy.
  6. Identifies key wholesaler issues and communicates during Quarterly Business Reviews.
  7. Provides information to support pharmacy functions.
  8. Participates in organizational and departmental QA activities.
  9. Maintains technology databases as assigned.


**Minimum Qualifications**

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years of experience in inventory management
  • Competency in operating pharmacy automation systems
  • Knowledge of PC use and database systems
  • Working knowledge of industry drug changes


**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Management or Accounting
  • 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician


**Physical Demands**

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples include pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequent standing/walking; some activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
