Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Pharmacy Intern for our Bartlett, TN location to support pharmacy operations and patient care. You will learn under supervision, assist with prescriptions, counseling, and immunizations, and help ensure accurate processing of orders in a fast-paced store environment.

Active enrollment in a US pharmacy program and a valid state Pharmacy Intern license are required. This role participates in customer-facing service and a broad range of duties within the pharmacy department.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a US school of pharmacy.
• Hold a current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products and services.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products and discuss with customers and prescribers.
• Provide drug counseling to customers.
• Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
• Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
• Dispense the correct medication.
• Contact prescribers’ offices for authorization.
• Bag prescriptions and deliver to customers accurately.
• Process third-party insurance information for customers.
• Contact insurance companies as needed on behalf of customers.
• Facilitate charge purchases for customers.
• Accept and interpret prescriptions for fill/refill.
• Provide immunizations under supervision of the pharmacist.
• Review incoming orders and compare with orders.
• Return unused stock bottles to inventory.
• Notify management of accidents or safety issues.
• Report prescription incidents to the on-duty pharmacist.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity (robbery/theft/fraud).
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support for minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions of the position with/without reasonable accommodation.

Education

Actively enrolled in a US school of pharmacy

Current Pharmacy Intern license (state issued)
