Job summary

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in at least the first professional year of study in an accredited college or school of Pharmacy.
• Current State of Michigan License as a Pharmacy Intern.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately as documented by the successful completion of an internal examination.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time (at least four and up to eight hours per day) or to walk long distances without difficulty.
• Basic typing skills and basic computer skills to enter orders, generate reports, retrieve data and diagnose minor printer issues.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while processing medication orders.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment when prioritizing work responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs all functions of a Pharmacy Technician on a regular basis.
• Reviews, processes and dispenses outpatient prescriptions and counsels outpatients on the proper use of medication.
• Reviews written medication orders for clarity and appropriate usage and consults with physicians as needed.
• Checks unit dose cart fill for accuracy against computer printouts.
• Compounds topical and internal dosage forms per approved procedures.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
