Job summary

CVS Health in the United States offers a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern program within our CVS Retail locations, where interns apply didactic learning to real-world practice under a preceptor, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, patient interactions, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met.
• Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health
• Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
• Contributing to positive patient experiences showing empathy and genuine care across channels
• Offering to counsel, fielding medical questions, and obtaining patient history when appropriate under supervision
• Taking telephonic prescriptions from the prescriber and clarifying prescriptions when allowed by state regulation
• Maintaining the highest level of self-awareness and providing coaching to pharmacy team members
• Completing basic inventory activities and cycle counts as directed
• Contributing to a high-performing team and embracing a growth mindset
• Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, traveling to stores in the market as needed
• Understanding and complying with laws, regulations, and CVS policies to ensure safety and privacy
• Delivering additional health care services (immunizations, point-of-care testing) where required by training and certification
• Immunization Responsibilities: obtaining Technician Immunizer status and educating patients about vaccines
• Immunization Responsibilities: monitoring for adverse reactions and recording events
