Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pharmacy Student Intern to support the Department of Pharmacy under supervision. The role focuses on preparing and distributing medications and IV solutions, under guidance of Clinical Pharmacists and Supervisors.

You will gain hands-on experience in medication preparation, labeling, repackaging, aseptic compounding, and OR kit support, while completing year-2 of an accredited pharmacy degree.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical training in 2nd year of an accredited Pharmacy degree program.
• Registration Pharmacy Student Intern required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited pharmacy degree program and must have completed year 2.
• Basic familiarity with computers and basic web navigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop familiarity with medications: generic and trade names, dosages, and conversions.
• Distribute medications from automated cabinetry and monitor labels and transfers.
• Deliver medications with appropriate labels.
• Repackage tablets, capsules and liquids and manage expiration dates.
• Handle controlled substances and investigational drugs.
• Prepare topical and irrigation solutions.
• Restock floor stock and automated cabinetry inventory.
• Prepare worklists and labels for compounded drugs.
• Demonstrate aseptic technique in compounding parenteral admixtures.
• Maintain OR pharmacy stock and related charging/documentation.
