Job summary

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree prior to start date.
• Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure within district guidelines (90 days).
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Engages customers and patients, greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolves issues promptly to ensure a positive experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive Walgreens experience, including proactive help and needs identification.
• Develops relationships with valuable customers and expands services (immunizations, medication management, diabetes awareness) to shift the role toward interpersonal care.
• Counsels patients on medicine usage, side effects, interactions, generics, OTCs, and privacy considerations; refers to medical provider as needed.
• Performs pharmacist tasks: compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management; dispenses medications as workload requires.
• Ensures compliance with regulations and policies; assists manager with workflow optimization, assigns roles, coordinates activities, and handles opening/closing duties.
• Maintains pharmacy IT systems knowledge (Intercom Plus, StoreNET, etc.) and proposes enhancements to productivity.
• Handles insurance claims processing, follows up with insurers and providers, and participates in third-party audits.
• Communicates with providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies; suggests alternatives as needed.
• Provides preventive health/wellness services (immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness).
• Assists and supports performance data analysis, KPI reviews, and inventory protection procedures.
• Develops relationships with local medical community and participates in outreach for growth.
• Collaborates with Central Pharmacy Operations for registrations, third-party reviews, and Well Experience locations; conducts virtual product reviews when appropriate.
• Assists in hiring/training staff and fosters teamwork and professional development.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy/healthcare developments; pursues ongoing professional development and mentors from managers.
• Supports pharmacy leadership with communicating health and wellness strategies to staff.
