Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate, safe, and timely delivery of patient medications with routing device and proper records for audits.
  • Communicate with patients to confirm delivery times and hand off medications to patients or designees.
  • Maintain company vehicle in good working condition and report maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Assist with administrative tasks to support pharmacy operations in the absence of deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.00 Hourly

The Pharmacy Driver supports Pharmacy operations by delivering medications to patient homes, as ordered by the Pharmacist or Primary Care Provider, in a timely and accurate manner. The Pharmacy Driver will assist in preparing prescriptions for delivery based on safety standards and Department of Transportation requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver medication orders to patient homes on assigned route(s) using company vehicle. Ensure all medications are stored in a safe and secure manner, avoiding exposure to temperature extremes or other external factors.
  • Ensure accurate, safe, and timely delivery of patient medications through hand-held device for routing, customer delivery information, and maintaining possession during travel. Ensure proper recordkeeping of deliveries for audits.
  • Communicate with patients in a professional manner to alter them of scheduled deliveries to assist in providing delivery directly to patient and/or designee.
  • Maintain company vehicle in good working condition, reports any issues to immediate supervisor for maintenance. Adhere to traffic and safety laws and best practices at all times.
  • Assist with administrative or clerk-type activities to assist in pharmacy operations in absence of deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Licensure, Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Active and Unencumbered Driver’s License, and Vehicle Insurance required. CDL preferred but not required.
  • Able to meet company requirements for Motor Vehicle Report annually.
  • Experience in transporting biological, sensitive, pharmaceutical, or similar materials strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Pharmacy preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Able to work independently and complete assignments in time allotted.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs for data entry.
  • Able to multitask effectively and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to demonstrate empathy, respect, and establish professional relationships with people of diverse ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to speak a language other than English fluently preferred.
Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
