Job summary

CommuniCare Family of Companies is seeking licensed Pharmacy Technicians to join its Maryland operations. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will help dispense medications and support long-term care patients.

Day and Evening shifts available, with emphasis on accuracy, inventory, and compliant packaging in a post-acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Indiana licensed Pharmacy Technician required.
• National Technician Certification preferred.
• Long Term Care pharmacy experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of FrameworkLTC a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist, including counting, pouring, weighing, and mixing as needed.
• Place drug requisitions and supplies under pharmacist guidance.
• Receive, inventory, and secure drugs and chemicals.
• Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy.
• Print labels and package prescriptions per Long Term Care policies.
• Prepack medications using unit-dose sealers.
• Track expiration dates and lot numbers for prepack products.
• Assist with automated packaging and Narcotic Room activities per policy.
• Assist in preparing non-sterile compounded products.
• Assist in preparing sterile compounded products after training.
• Enter medication orders into the pharmacy system.

Responsibilities

May participate in one or more of the following activities:

• Prepare prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and at times mixing medication.
• Make requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacists.
• Receive and maintain inventory of drugs and chemicals and ensure their security.
• Verify that information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
• Print prescription labels and package prescriptions according to Long Term Care policy standards.
• Prepack medications using unit dose sealers.
• Monitor/document prepack product expiration dates and lot numbers appropriately.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
• Assist in automated compliance packaging dispensing process Assist in Narcotic Room activities to prepare Controlled Substance prescriptions according to Long Term Care Standards and Pharmacy Policy and Procedures.
• Assist in preparing non-sterile compounded products.
• Assist in preparing sterile compounded products after appropriate training.
• Enter medication orders into pharmacy operating system.
• Knowledge of FrameworkLTC a plus.
