Job summary

CommuniCare Family of Companies is seeking a Pharmacy Dispensing Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications and healthcare products for residents and patients in a Long Term Care setting.

Under supervision, you will retrieve, count, pour, weigh, and mix medications as needed while ensuring accurate labeling and compliance with policy standards. Ohio licensure and technician certification are required.

Qualifications

• Must be an Ohio licensed Pharmacy Technician with National Technician Certification.
• Previous Long Term Care pharmacy experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of FrameworkLTC a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and at times mixing medication.
• Make requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacists.
• Receive and maintain inventory of drugs and chemicals and ensure their security.
• Verify that information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
• Print prescription labels and package prescriptions according to Long Term Care policy standards.
• Prepack medications using unit dose sealers.
• Monitor/document prepack product expiration dates and lot numbers appropriately.
• Enter medication orders into pharmacy operating system.

• Assist in preparing non-sterile compounded products.
• Assist in preparing sterile compounded products after appropriate training.
• Enter medication orders into pharmacy operating system.
• Knowledge of FrameworkLTC a plus.
