Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Department Manager to lead the pharmacy department, drive prescription count, patient count, and profitability while upholding compliance with federal and state regulations.

You will supervise and develop staff, manage budgeting and scheduling, and ensure exceptional customer service in a community-focused environment. The role requires a licensed pharmacist with strong leadership, a patient-centered mindset, and the ability to build a thriving pharmacy operation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School.
• Pharmacist license required to practice.
• Experience with pharmacy computer systems and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operation of the pharmacy department and ensure accurate prescription filling and courteous, efficient service to all customers.
• Improve pharmacy prescription sales, profit, patient count, and professional image through strong operational leadership.
• Supervise and develop pharmacy staff through proper orientation, training, PTCB certification support, objective setting, and constructive discipline while building morale, motivation, and loyalty.
• Manage referrals from Hy-Vee locations and coordinate with retail pharmacists as needed.
• Recruit and hire pharmacy personnel, control payroll and scheduling, minimize overtime, and improve labor cost per prescription.
• Coordinate sales and promotional programs for the pharmacy department.
• Implement inventory controls and loss prevention measures according to regulations.
• Oversee training on the pharmacy POS system and resolve questions and problems.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state pharmacy regulations including DEA and Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Audit records, maintain proper controlled substance documentation, and submit required reports.
• Monitor inventory levels and daily purchases; review the inventory system.
• Address customer concerns regarding service, pricing, and pharmacy operations.
• Grow business through OTC counseling and product recommendations.
• Represent Hy-Vee in professional groups and organizations; oversee nursing home accounts and med deliveries.
• Maintain patient privacy per HIPAA guidelines and adhere to company policies and laws.
