Job summary

Jobtailor in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experienced Ambulatory Pharmacy Concierge Program Technician to support discharge and outpatient prescription workflows. You will manage prescription billing, patient assistance, and coverage denials while collaborating with care teams and insurers.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in a community or hospital outpatient setting, PA license/CPHT preferred, and strong communication and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in a community-based retail or hospital outpatient pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of outpatient prescription program payer/PBM billing, Prior Authorization, and Claim Exception Facilitation.
  • Pharmacy Technician License; CPHT preferred.
  • By May 2026, PA Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician license required by Pennsylvania.
  • Computer literacy with Word/Excel and Pharmacy Operating System experience.
  • POS and cash register experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal team to gather paperwork, prescription billing information, and prescriptions.
  • Answer inbound telephone calls and triage to appropriate staff.
  • Create patient profiles in the pharmacy information system.
  • Enter prescription plan information for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
  • Support Concierge Service activities from intake through bedside delivery at patient discharge.
  • Comply with regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in program marketing and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist in establishing Concierge Services Program policies and procedures, including indigent drug, Patient Assistance, and pharmacy exception processes.
  • Serve as the primary Ambulatory Pharmacy resource for discharge medication access issues.
  • Resolve formulary, coverage, copay, patient assistance eligibility, and indigent program issues.
  • Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review and purchase.
  • Submit, receive, and stock inventory.
  • Follow up with patients and families regarding pharmaceutical needs and eligibility information.
  • Collaborate with patient care teams, insurance companies, drug manufacturers, and prescription benefit administrators to coordinate coverage and resolve denials.
  • Educate pharmacy and patient-discharge departments on Patient Assistance Program and pharmacy exception policies and processes.
  • Participate in clinical and business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Concierge Program.
  • Assemble data and prepare concierge program reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements


  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a community-based retail or hospital outpatient pharmacy, or equivalent training and experience

  • Additional hospital setting experience or “lead” Technician experience is a plus

  • Associate’s Degree program preferred

  • CPHT preferred

  • By May 2026, pharmacy technicians must obtain either a Pharmacy Technician Trainee license or a Pharmacy Technician license issued by the state of Pennsylvania

  • Demonstrated proficiency and process knowledge of outpatient prescription program payer/PBM billing, issue resolution, and payment processes, including Prior Authorization and Claim Exception Facilitation

  • Understanding and process knowledge of medication billing systems in an ambulatory pharmacy setting

  • Computer literacy, including Pharmacy Operating System experience and Word/Excel capabilities

  • Prior POS and cash register experience required

  • Pharmacy POS/cash register experience desired

  • Direct experience and knowledge of Patient Assistance Programs and/or indigent drug programs highly desired

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to resolve customer issues quickly and creatively

  • Ability to prioritize, facilitate, and problem-solve multiple time-sensitive tasks to completion

  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and time management skills
