General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Ensures cleanliness of the department. Orders product and supplies and logs invoices as necessary.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health, Wellness, Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager; Pharmacists

Positions reporting to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
• Attempts to learn and address customers by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by escorting, securing products, loading/unloading heavy items, noting and passing along suggestions or requests, and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and courteously.
• Stocks received products and supplies, and marks stickers accordingly.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Reviews prescriptions not picked up as requested by the department manager.
• Orders products and supplies as requested.
• Reviews invoices on received products.
• Coordinates nursing home medicines as necessary.
• Logs invoices as necessary.
• Prepares paperwork and compiles medicines for delivery orders and mail-outs at the department manager’s request.
• Maintains a clean and inviting pharmacy environment.
• Takes orders for refills from customers.
• Removes trash in a timely manner.
• Adheres to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Gathers patient information for prescriptions.
• Stocks pharmacy supplies.
• Performs cash transactions.
• Follows company policies and store guidelines.
• Reports to work on schedule and on time.
• Administers vaccines as legally permitted.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Completes sales.
• Assists in other store areas as needed.
• Performs other related duties and projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Ability to file, post, mail, copy data, interview, guide people.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year of related experience.
• Vaccination certification as required by law.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently.
• Visual and physical activity requirements detailed.

Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment with noise and occasional exposure to chemicals/solvents.

Equipment Used

Pharmacy software PC, printer, cash register, balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, copier.

Confidentiality

Maintains customer privacy regarding medical information.

Interacts daily with the public and vendors.

Acknowledgment
