An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Billing Specialist/Pharmacy Technician to manage resident accounts and support pharmacy operations. Position Summary:
The Billing Specialist/Pharmacy Technician manages and completes all aspects of resident accounts receivable matters, including billings from prescription drug plans; manages and completes the financial/fiscal transactions of Medicare A/Managed Care facility charges; and works closely with the facilities’ admission coordinators to process new resident data. The Billing Specialist/Pharmacy Technician will also support the pharmacists by preparing and distributing medications under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient/resident records.
Job Related Responsibilities and Activities:
1. Performs a variety of tasks for third party billings to prescription drug plans and Maine Care. Data enters new prescription orders and refills. Troubleshoots denied charges for prompt resolution.
2. Works collaboratively with facility admission-coordinators to monitor new resident arrivals. Works with pharmacists to stage new admissions and configure new resident insurance and demographic information for successful billing.
3. Posts check/credit card payments to resident accounts as well as 835i remittances into QS/1. Handles billing calls from financial guarantors to correct discrepancies and clarify insurance information. Frequently performs significant data entry tasks, use of spreadsheets, and trial balances.
4. Processes medication returns for credit
5. Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment
6. Fills physician orders, medication kits or trays, medication carts, or stock requisitions accurately
7. Replenishes medication in emergency crash carts and floor stock areas
8. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing of pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
9. Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs
10. Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas
11. Prepacks medications in unit-dose packages
12. Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system
13. Generates reports
14. Answers the telephone identifying self and department. Directs calls to appropriate personnel.
15. Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
16. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
17. Keeps pharmacy area clean, neat and well-organized.
18. Attends required departmental and company in-services and meetings as scheduled
19. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient/resident information.
20. Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team members
21. Maintains a professional work environment and follows MVH Code of Conduct.
22. Assists co-workers in tasks as time permits
23. Adheres to departmental and company policies and procedures.
24. Complies with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations.
25. Performs all duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
26. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Training/Experience:
Current Pharmacy Technician certification, High School Diploma required, BS/BA desirable but not required, one (1) year pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required.
