Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant I - Retail to support pharmacists, handle prescriptions, and assist patients at the window. This role involves refills, returns to stock, and point-of-sale transactions, with potential advancement into the Pharmacy Technician Training program.

The position is full-time, primarily Monday–Friday, with varied shifts. Prior pharmacy experience is preferred; WA license is required. Pre-employment drug screening applies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• State of Washington Pharmacy Assistant License required.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and professionally.
• Able to use pharmacy point of sale systems accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at the pharmacy window with attentiveness and responsiveness.
• Monitor patient tickets and update prescription status in the dispensing application.
• Dispense prescriptions and OTC meds via POS, referring counseling cases to a pharmacist.
• Process payments including credit cards, cash, and checks.
• Complete return to stock and restock shelves.
• Assist patients with online prescription refills and billing accuracy.
• Triage phone calls related to medications and route inquiries appropriately.
• Coordinate medication dispensing for research study with Investigational Drug Services Pharmacy.
