Job summary

Commonshare, a Kingdom-driven nonprofit in Virginia, is seeking an on-site Pharmacy Supervisor to oversee daily operations and ensure safe, effective dispensing of medications.

You will supervise pharmacists, technicians, and staff; uphold high standards of patient care, customer service, safety, and regulatory compliance; and work with leadership to improve workflows and pharmacy growth.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a bachelor’s or advanced pharmacy degree.
  • Current unrestricted Virginia Pharmacist license and ability to fill Medicare and Medicaid prescriptions.
  • Vaccination credentials and BLS certification.
  • Strong communication, leadership, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and navigate ambiguity in a mission-driven startup environment.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, stoop, retrieve medications from floor to overhead height, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work extended shifts of up to 12 hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as on-duty pharmacy supervisor and ensure safe, effective daily operations.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and guide pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy associates.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care, customer service, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide feedback to the Executive Director on staff performance, training needs, operational issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain required records and reports and ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal pharmacy laws.
  • Oversee inventory purchasing, controls, returns, and medication storage.
  • Monitor third-party claim adjudication, resolve reimbursement issues, and elevate payer/system problems as needed.
  • Partner with leadership and pharmacy staff to improve workflows, efficiency, services, community outreach, and pharmacy growth.
  • Perform pharmacist duties including prescription verification and dispensing; clinical review for interactions, allergies, disease states, dose, strength, and quantity; patient counseling; prescriber communication; claims processing; and health advocacy.
  • Counsel patients on prescription and OTC medications, durable medical equipment, side effects, precautions, and proper medication use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Hospital outpatient, nonprofit, or startup pharmacy experience.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience.
