Job summary

Barrington James is supporting a private pharmacy group building a 503B sterile outsourcing facility in Northern Virginia, seeking a Pharmacist in Charge. You will hold the license, oversee cGMP sterile compounding, and shape SOPs and the pharmacy function from the ground up.

This is a leadership role inside a greenfield 503B, working with an established Head of Quality and Director of Operations to ensure readiness for registration, inspections, and regulatory engagement.

Qualifications

• PharmD with Virginia license or eligibility required.
• Sterile compounding experience (aseptic/cleanroom).
• Understanding of the 503B outsourcing facility model.

Responsibilities

• Hold the pharmacy license and serve as the accountable pharmacist for state licensing applications and inspections.
• Build SOPs and pharmacy procedures for registration and operation.
• Oversee sterile compounding under cGMP in partnership with quality leadership.
• Lead the development of the pharmacy function during the phased build.
• Represent the pharmacy to state boards and regulators.
• Ensure inspection readiness across the facility and lead pharmacy staff as operations come online.

We are currently supporting a privately owned pharmacy group building a 503B sterile outsourcing facility in Northern Virginia that is looking to engage a Pharmacist in Charge.

The facility is being built in phases and is ahead of registration, so this is a chance to shape a 503B from the license up. You will hold the pharmacy license and be the accountable pharmacist for state board applications and inspections, and you will build the SOPs and the pharmacy function alongside an established Head of Quality and Director of Operations. Sterile compounding oversight under cGMP sits with you. This is not a verification seat in a running pharmacy. This is a licensed leadership role inside a greenfield outsourcing facility, for a pharmacist who understands the 503B model and wants to be there from the start.

Responsibilities

• Hold the pharmacy license and serve as the accountable pharmacist for state licensing applications and inspections
• Build the SOPs and pharmacy procedures required for registration and operation
• Oversee sterile compounding under cGMP in partnership with the Head of Quality
• Partner with the Director of Operations on the phased build of the pharmacy function
• Represent the pharmacy to state boards and regulators
• Support inspection readiness across the facilityLead and develop pharmacy staff as the operation comes online

Required Experience

• PharmD with an active Virginia pharmacist license or eligibility
• Sterile compounding experience, aseptic and cleanroom
• Understanding of the 503B outsourcing facility model
• Experience as the accountable pharmacist for state board applications or inspections
• Ability to build procedures and a pharmacy function from an early stage
• A stable, well explained career history

Preferred Experience

• Prior Pharmacist in Charge at a 503B outsourcing facility
