UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to ensure appropriate medication order selection, dosing, dispensing, and patient education. The role involves reviewing orders, resolving drug-related issues, compounding medications, and collaborating with physicians to optimize patient care.

• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians to facilitate care.
• Oversee technical personnel involved in preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications; may serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and float to cover needs.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.

Job Description

• Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
• Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies. Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.

Education:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
