AtlantiCare is seeking a Pharmacist - Full Time for our hospital in Atlantic City, NJ. The pharmacist will ensure accurate and timely distribution of medications, verify orders for interactions and allergies, and support patient care rounding and safety programs.
Qualifications include a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy, NJ license, and hospital experience; ACLS/CPR preferred. The role involves supervising technicians, managing inventories, and participating in clinical programs such as
Hospital Pharmacists: The Pharmacist ensures accurate and timely distribution of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established procedures and standards, in support of high quality patient care. The Pharmacist interprets, evaluates and verifies medication orders accurately assessing for drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-disease state interactions. The Pharmacist provides drug information to clinicians and patients. It is the responsibility of the Pharmacist to maintain accurate and complete records on all patient profiles and controlled drug substances as required by law. The Pharmacist properly manages pharmaceutical inventories and maintains emergency drug supplies, automated dispensing machines and general medication security on the nursing units. This position directs and verifies the Pharmacy Technicians work.Pharmacists will be responsible for maintaining competency and participating in various clinical programs such as Anticoagulation Management, Pharmacokinetic Monitoring, Adverse Drug Event Monitoring, patient care rounding, pharmacotherapy optimization and general medication safety. This position supports organizational goals and values by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork, respect and cooperation. Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Requires the ability to stand approximately 60% of the time and requires occasional reaching.

This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.

EDUCATION: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required. ACLS Preferred, CPR Preferred for Hospital Pharmacist.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience preferred. Two years hospital experience preferred for Hospital Pharmacist. Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of work processes. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be assessed and evaluated for this position within 90 days from date of hire.
