Job summary

STAR Long Term Care Pharmacy in Sacramento, CA seeks an energetic pharmacist to join our team servicing skilled nursing facilities. RPH must have LTC experience and a flexible schedule in a small family environment with competitive wages and benefits.

The successful candidate will oversee medication preparation, ensure accuracy, verify dispensing legality, and answer questions from staff and patients while mentoring technicians in IV compounding. California licensure required.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist in good standing in California.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong customer service skills and problem-solving ability.
• Experience in LTC pharmacy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate preparation of medications for final dispensing to patients, including order entry, filling, and toting.
• Review filled blister cards and unit dose strips for accuracy.
• Verify dispensing legality based on allergies, interactions, refills, and other factors.
• Interpret prescriptions and exercise professional judgment on whether to dispense.
• Transfer prescriptions between pharmacies as needed.
• Answer questions from patients, doctors, and nurses.
• Oversee technicians in compounding IVs.
• Dose IV medications per patient data.

STAR Long Term Care Pharmacy is a closed door pharmacy located in Sacramento, CA. We currently service Skilled nursing facilities. We are seeking an energetic pharmacist to join our team. RPH must have experience in LTC Pharmacy. We are looking for a Pharmacist with a flexible schedule and whom is eager to work in a small family environment. Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accurate preparation of medications for final dispensing to the patient, including order entry, filling, and toting.
• Review filled blister cards and unit dose strips to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly.
• Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, drug interactions, frequency of refills, etc.
• Interpret prescription orders and exercise professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription.
• Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as needed.
• Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.
• Oversee technicians in Compounding IV's.
• Dose IV medications per patient specific data.

Requirements:

• Must be licensed and in good standing in the state of CA
• Excellent Computer skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to problem solve, make decisions in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
• Software experience preferred yet not required (Framework, DocuTrack)
• Prior pharmacy experience preferred
