Job summary

Ridgeland Comprehensive Treatment Center in Ridgeland, South Carolina, part of Acadia Healthcare, seeks a Pharmacist to oversee outpatient MAT medications and ensure safe, accurate dispensing.

The Pharmacist will maintain records, educate patients, review drug interactions, and coordinate with insurers. A SC Pharmacist license is required; behavioral health experience is preferred. Monday–Friday coverage with PRN hours in clinic settings.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in pharmacy from an accredited college or university.
• Prefer prior experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment.
• No history of alcohol or drug misuse for three years before employment.
• Familiarity with MAT, including safe handling of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission) related to controlled substances.
• Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team for patient-centered care.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.

Responsibilities

• Instructs patients on how to take medications and informs about potential side effects.
• Advises patients on health topics and equipment for treating health problems.
• Teaches other healthcare practitioners about proper medication therapies.
• Completes insurance forms and works with insurers to ensure access to medicines.
• May oversee pharmacy technicians and interns.
• Maintains records and performs administrative tasks necessary for pharmacy practice.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Seeking: Pharmacist

PRN Hours: Friday- 5:00am-12:00

Saturday- 6:30am-10:00am

Your Job as a Pharmacist:

The Pharmacist is responsible for the accountability of prescription medications to patients and maintenance of accurate records; provides expertise in the safe use of prescription medications in an outpatient clinic setting.

Job Responsibilities:

• Fills prescriptions, verifies instructions from physicians on the proper amounts of medication to give to patients;
• Checks whether prescriptions will interact negatively with other drugs that a patient is taking or any medical conditions the patient has;
• Instructs patients on how and when to take a prescribed medicine and informs them about potential side effects they may experience from taking the medicine;
• Advises patients about general health topics, such as diet, exercise, managing stress, and on other issues, such as what equipment or supplies would be best to treat a health problem;
• Teaches other healthcare practitioners about proper medication therapies for patients;
• Completes insurance forms and work with insurance companies to ensure that patients get the medicines they need;
• May oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and/or pharmacists in training (interns)
• Keeps required federal, state, local or corporate records, and does other administrative tasks necessary for the professional practice of pharmacy in a clinic; and,
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Education, Skills and Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in pharmacy from an accredited college or university required
• Prefer previous experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment.
• No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including the safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care.
• Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Understanding of clinical best practices related to substance use treatment, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Must have a current Pharmacist License in the state of South Carolina
