Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Pearl, MS, is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacist to join the team at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility. Work hours are 8:00 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m., two days per week, with responsibilities for dispensing pharmaceuticals and maintaining records. The Pharmacist ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, provides staff consultation, supervises pharmacy personnel, manages inventory, and participates in training as required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Pharmacist license in the state of Mississippi.
• Must be a supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
• Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Maintain all pharmacy records as required by Federal/State law and department policy.
• Respond to emergencies and critical incidents at the institution.
• Dispense all pharmaceuticals.
• Recognize and report possible synergistic, antagonistic, or cumulative effects of drugs.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding pharmaceuticals.
• Check expiration date of pharmaceuticals and dispose of outdated pharmaceuticals and non-returnable goods.
• Responsible for purchasing and inventory levels of all pharmaceuticals including over-the-counter medications.
• Orient, instruct, and supervise all pharmacy personnel.
• Maintain monthly statistical information and reports as directed by administration.
• Perform quarterly inspection of aspects of pharmaceutical services and assist in problem‑solving activities.
• Attend training and meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

PHARMACIST POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of pharmaceutical services within the institution.

PHARMACIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
