The North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH), located in Jamestown, is a specialized psychiatric hospital that serves the whole state. The State Hospital provides an onsite pharmacy and a team based approach to caring for people with mental illness.
As the Staff Pharmacist, you will be part of a small, collaborative pharmacy team where your clinical knowledge and ideas can make a real difference. You will attend treatment team meetings, provide pharmaceutical expertise to staff, dispense medications, and help ensure medications are used safely and appropriately. You will have the opportunity to take on clinical responsibilities beyond the traditional staff pharmacist role, including medication management, quality improvement, teaching, and student precepting. You will also participate in the hospital's after-hours on-call rotation approximately every third week, with additional compensation for on-call services.
To thrive in this position, you must be self-motivated, adaptable, and detail oriented. This is a role for someone looking to expand your clinical knowledge and work effectively with an interdisciplinary team. Working at NDSH is an opportunity to help build something, take ownership, and grow with a changing and expanding facility.
What makes this opportunity different? You'll have a Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule, the opportunity to pursue board certification after four years, and the chance to combine staff pharmacy responsibilities with clinical pharmacy work. Most importantly, you'll see the impact of your work firsthand, from helping a patient improve through a medication recommendation to helping a student or colleague have that moment when something new clicks.
To be considered for the Staff Pharmacist position, you must have a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from a school or college of pharmacy recognized by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy and hold an active North Dakota pharmacist license in good standing or be eligible to obtain a North Dakota pharmacist license within the next year.
