Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions is seeking an Associate Scientist to support laboratory work in synthesizing salt forms and polymorphs of drug candidates. The role focuses on solid form and particle characterization and will be based in Groton, CT (USA).

The successful candidate will perform solid state characterization (X-ray powder diffraction, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy), contribute to screening activities, and collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics teams to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field; 2+ years experience or MS/PhD preferred.
• Experience with solid state characterization techniques (X-ray powder diffraction, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy).
• Experience and understanding of infrared spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, FT-Raman) and/or SSNMR is an advantage.
• Ability to solve Materials Science problems using experimental approaches and teamwork.
• Good organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid state characterization of small molecules (e.g., X-ray powder diffraction, DSC, moisture sorption, microscopy, spectroscopy).
• Support multidisciplinary teams to define screening activities for crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening.
• Perform API particle characterization and surface characterization (size, shape, energy, roughness).
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics to align solid form selection for clinical studies.
• Document experiments and maintain electronic lab notebook with good practice.
