Job summary

Smith+ Nephew in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an Electrical Automation Engineer 2 to support pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and GMP-compliant utilities for a new biotherapeutic area. You will drive FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ activities, document validation, and CAPAs while leading projects on schedule and budget.

The role requires strong PLC/HMI/SCADA expertise, 3+ years in pharma/biotech or 1+ year in automation, and a balance of hands-on engineering with project leadership. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical preferred).
• EIT/PE license preferred. Lean/Six Sigma certification highly desired. PMP certification a plus.
• Minimum 3 years in a Pharmaceutical/Biotech environment or 1 year in Automation Engineering with proven performance.
• Strong working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Experience in project management of automation solutions with proven results.

Responsibilities

• Function as Automation SME for equipment/systems to troubleshoot and improve efficiency.
• Actively participate in daily operations to meet schedules and resolve complex problems.
• Audit operational performance and regulatory compliance for complex equipment/systems.
• Collaborate with multiple departments to develop requirements for modifications.
• Mentor junior team members on automation best practices and methodologies.
• Lead validation requirements for manufacturing and utilities equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Lead projects with alignment to business strategy and manage milestones and risks.
• Prepare quality docs such as SOPs, Change Controls, URS, and CAPAs.
