Job summary

Civica is seeking an Automation Engineer II for its Petersburg, VA site, focusing on automation for drug product manufacturing. You will support SCADA and PLC/HMI systems, manage data historians and SQL databases, and ensure GMP compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and implement automation changes, and lead investigations and root-cause analyses in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and 6+ years of Engineering/Automation experience or bachelor’s degree with 8+ years or associate degree with 10+ years in Engineering/Automation.
• Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11, Data Integrity, and GAMP 5.
• Experience in GMP environments, change control, nonconformance, CAPA, and validation practices.
• Hands-on with at least one major PLC platform: Allen Bradley or Siemens.
• Experience with virtual environments or batch reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support and implement automation solutions across the facility.
• Troubleshoot SCADA/PLC/HMI systems (Rockwell & Siemens).
• Support Rockwell FactoryTalk/Data Historian and SQL databases.
• Prepare specifications, SOPs, and engineering standards.
• Lead root cause analysis and investigations.
• Assist in new product/technology introductions and automation changes.
• Design and test installed automation for process and packaging equipment.
