Job summary

Civica in Petersburg, VA seeks an Automation Engineer to support and advance automation solutions for a state-of-the-art fill-finish facility. The role requires hands-on PLC/HMI troubleshooting, SCADA systems, and data management within a cGMP framework.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable process controls, equipment integration, and compliant change control. The position demands a proactive, organized professional capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• 3 years of Engineering/Automation experience, or 6+ years with associate degree.
• Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and Data Integrity.
• Experience in GMP environments, change control, and validation practices.
• Hands-on PLC experience with Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) or Siemens (TIA Portal).
• Experience in virtual environments (ESXi/VMware) or batch reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support and implement automation solutions across the facility.
• Troubleshoot process control applications using PLCs and HMIs.
• Support Rockwell’s Data Historian, Asset Centre, FactoryTalk Directory, etc.
• Assist with SQL/database administration and data integrity.
• Lead root cause analysis and investigations for control system issues.
• Develop specifications, SOPs, and engineering standards.
