Job summary

Civica in Petersburg, VA, seeks an Automation Engineer II to join the IT/OT Automation Team. You will support and troubleshoot process control systems, PLCs, and HMI in a cGMP, sterile filling-like environment, interfacing with Rockwell/Siemens platforms and FactoryTalk suites.

The role requires strong analytical problem-solving, project management, and lifecycle support for automation and network environments, with a multi-shift schedule on 1st/2nd shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience with SCADA and PLC control systems (Rockwell/Siemens) in pharma.
• Knowledge of data historians and data integrity in FDA-regulated environments.
• Experience in GMP, change control, validation, and QA practices.
• Hands-on with at least one major PLC platform (AB Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA).
• Experience with virtual environments (ESXi/VMware) or batch reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support and implement automation solutions across the facility.
• Troubleshoot PLC/SCADA applications using Rockwell and Siemens.
• Support Rockwell Data Historian and FactoryTalk components.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day issues; mentor junior engineers.
• Develop specs, SOPs, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet expectations.
• Lead root cause analyses and investigations of process control issues.
• Support new product introductions and tech upgrades.
