Job summary

AbbVie seeks an AI-native Data Engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade data pipelines powering AI/ML, analytics, and automation across CMC and manufacturing systems. You will harmonize data from MES, LIMS, QMS, ERP, and instrument sources into reliable, governed data assets for data scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field with hands-on data engineering experience.
• 2+ years in designing and building enterprise-grade data pipelines, integration workflows, and data products.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering tasks and in SQL across analytical and transactional databases.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern data stack tools.
• Familiarity with data governance, data lineage, and metadata management.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data ingestion pipelines connecting CMC and manufacturing source systems to centralized data environments.
• Develop harmonized data models and ontologies across sites and systems.
• Implement data quality controls, observability, and lineage documentation for production pipelines.
• Build governed data products (feature stores, curated datasets) for AI/ML use.
• Contribute to platform design, CI/CD, and automated testing for data systems.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to translate model data needs into reliable infrastructure.
