Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Data Engineer in Irvine to design and build scalable data-pipelines across initiatives like agentic trail design and digital twins. You will collaborate with statisticians, data scientists, and business teams to deliver data solutions that inform decision making, using cloud-based tools, AI copilots, and model-driven approaches.

You will partner with IT to enable required technologies and ensure compliance with clinical development regulations.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science or other quantitative disciplines.
• 1+ year experience building production-grade data solutions using modern AI frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, Strands Agents).
• Experience with general purpose programming languages (Java, Python, Scala, C, C++, C#, Swift/Obj-C, JavaScript).
• Experience with Big Data and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Statisticians and Data Scientists to enable streamlined data flow across clinical development.
• Develops, constructs, tests and maintains architectures to support Modeling and Analytics in Clinical Development.
• Builds data products and service processes for data transformation, metadata extraction, workload management, and error processing.
• Implements automated operational and quality control processes for data and reporting.
• Adheres to coding, testing and designing reusable code and components.
• Proposes improvements to the data pipeline and explores new tools and techniques.
• Develops data set processes for data modeling, mining and production.
• Ensures compliance with GCP, ICH, AbbVie SOPs and related regulations.
