Job description

This role is structured as a close partnership with the PGIM Chief Architect and the PGIM Architecture team. The consultant will not own every area below end to end, but will actively contribute to planning, drive execution, and absorb day-to-day work that currently sits with the PGIM Architecture team.

Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE) Operations: Partner on preparation and facilitation of the PGIM Architecture CoE, including agenda development, content curation, presenter coordination, follow-up tracking, and ongoing operationalization of the council in alignment with the PGIM One Realignment.

Reference Architectures and Standards Authoring: Co-author and maintain PGIM-specific reference architectures, design patterns, guidelines, and best practices for Azure, .NET, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and integration scenarios. Codify these as structured artifacts and Markdown optimized for consumption by coding agents (Claude Code, MCP-aware tooling, and IDE-integrated assistants), enabling agent-driven adoption of PGIM standards directly in developer workflows.

Architecture Strategy and CTO Alignment: Help drive the connective layer between PGIM affiliate architecture and the center CTO Enterprise Architecture function, supporting alignment, reducing duplication, and accelerating shared decision-making.

Application Modernization Architecture: Contribute to solution architecture and design for new and modernized platforms built on Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Power Platform, supporting affiliates such as Fixed Income, Private Capital, Real Estate, Jennison, Quantitative Solutions, and Global Wealth/Investments.

AI Strategy and Enablement: Bring technical depth on PGIM's AI capabilities including Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform Copilot, Copilot Studio, and agentic platform patterns. Help shape enterprise guidance on responsible AI adoption, model selection, and reusable AI building blocks.

Data Platform Architecture: Provide architectural input across Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory F1), Microsoft Purview, CosmosDB, Azure SQL, Azure PostgreSQL, and ADLS Gen2. Help guide affiliates through Fabric maturity, domain activation, and governance rollout.

Developer Experience and SDLC AI Integration: Co-author the AI strategy for the developer and architecture SDLC, integrating common CTO tooling (GitHub, Terraform, Claude Code, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace) with internal platforms to deliver a cohesive, productive developer experience.

Skills, MCPs, and Reusable Assets: Author Claude Skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, prompt libraries, and reusable automation components. Mentor engineering and architecture teams on adopting these assets and contributing back to a shared catalog.

Engineering and Architecture Council Support: Support the Engineering Council and Architecture Council as a working contributor, helping ensure bi-directional information flow between architecture intent and engineering execution.

EARB Submission Support: Assist with preparation, review, and shepherding of EARB submissions on behalf of PGIM, including technical writeups, architecture diagrams, and follow-up artifacts.

Team Engagement and Office Hours: Hold regular office hours and direct engagement sessions with affiliate development teams to provide architectural guidance, unblock design decisions, and review proposed solutions, absorbing engagement work currently handled directly by the PGIM Chief Architect.

Documentation and Knowledge Management: Produce and maintain all architecture documentation in Confluence and Markdown only, ensuring artifacts remain current, discoverable, version-controlled, and consumable by both humans and coding agents.

Required Skills and Technical Experience:

Cloud and Platform: Microsoft Azure (AKS, Function Apps, Logic Apps, Static Web Apps, App Gateway, Key Vault, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, Express Route), Azure Short Stack patterns, Azure landing zones, and hybrid cloud architecture.

Data and Analytics: Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Real-Time Intelligence), Microsoft Purview (data governance, lineage, sensitivity), CosmosDB, Azure SQL, Azure PostgreSQL, ADLS Gen2, and modern data mesh/domain activation patterns.

AI and Agentic Platforms: Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Document Intelligence, Power Platform Copilot, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility, agentic AI patterns, RAG architectures, and prompt engineering at enterprise scale.

Application Development: .NET (C#), Node.js, Python (FastAPI), API design and governance, microservices, event-driven architecture, and container-based deployments.

DevOps and Developer Experience: GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform (including reusable module design), Azure DevOps, Claude Code, Claude Skills, MCP server development, and SDLC automation.

Observability and Operations: Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and APM onboarding patterns.

Power Platform: Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse, and Power Platform governance.

Preferred Background:

10+ years of enterprise architecture or solution architecture experience, ideally within financial services or asset management.

Demonstrated experience operationalizing Architecture Centers of Excellence or similar cross-organizational architecture forums.

Strong written communication skills, with a portfolio of reference architectures, technical guidance documents, or published patterns authored in Markdown and Confluence.

Comfortable engaging across both executive and engineering audiences, adjusting depth and tone appropriately.

Experience producing concrete deliverables (templates, diagrams, runnable samples, code accelerators, agent-consumable artifacts) rather than abstract architectural commentary.
