Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a dynamic PFASs Forensics Discipline Leader to oversee and expand PFAS forensic services, serving clients domestically and internationally.

The role requires deep PFAS chemistry knowledge, a publication record, conference presentations, and the ability to communicate complex science to diverse audiences including clients and regulators. Collaboration with project managers, R&D, and marketing is essential.

Qualifications

  • PhD in PFASs forensics.
  • More than five years of experience with PFASs and forensic tools.
  • Detailed understanding of PFAS chemistry, uses, manufacturing processes, fate and transport.
  • History of commercial projects where PFASs Forensic tools have been applied.
  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of PFASs forensic services with robust PFAS identification for source allocation.
  • Apply expertise in PFASs detection, uses, manufacturing, fate and transport to strengthen technical reputation.
  • Assist with technical sales, client engagement, project delivery, and proposal development for PFASs forensics.
  • Support ongoing R&D initiatives related to PFAS characterization and new analytical methods.
  • Provide oversight to AI tools used to assist PFASs characterization.
  • Mentor junior staff and support professional growth.
  • Take ownership of marketing materials and proactively position CDM Smith for opportunities.
