Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing and supervision of hydrocarbon cargo transfers, including gauging, sampling and reconciliation from shore tanks to ships or barges. The role requires adherence to API procedures and SGS standards, with coordination across client, Customs and vessel personnel.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, basic English, and the ability to work independently or in a team, with willingness to complete required certifications and internal

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC required (preferred).
• IFIA certification preferred.
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample, measure, and temperature-check vessels and shore tanks per API procedures.
• Perform transfer calculations and full reconciliation of bulk hydrocarbon quantities.
• Complete reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) or Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
• Coordinate with client, US Customs, vessel personnel and shore facility staff.
• Adhere to Safety standards and SGS Integrity policies.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and SGS procedures.
