Job summary

Petco is seeking a Pet Stylist to provide professional grooming services to our customers' pets, delivering exceptional care and outcomes. You will work with a range of breeds, use state-of-the-art grooming tools, and ensure safety and comfort of every animal in our care.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving in grooming scenarios with some guidance

Responsibilities

• Under moderate to limited supervision, perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments, including clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of every animal and report concerns to owners and management
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide grooming recommendations, and resolve questions
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and at-home care
• Maintain a clean and safe grooming area and sanitation of tools and equipment
• Train and supervise entry-level trainees when needed
