Job summary

LH Mercantile is seeking an Assistant Store Team Leader to partner with the STL on staffing, onboarding, and delivering consistent in-store standards. You will help manage daily operations, including animal care, safety, merchandising, and inventory, while overseeing training and staff development.

This full-time role requires leadership experience in retail and a genuine passion for pets. You will participate in community partnerships and brand-building efforts to grow neighbor loyalty.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail leadership experience.
• Genuine passion for pets and nutrition.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to operate store equipment including forklift.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Team Leader on staffing, recruiting, onboarding and cross-training.
• Support daily operational standards including animal care, safety, cleanliness, merchandising, inventory and security.
• Facilitate training and onboarding for new hires and current staff.
• Motivate and develop team members through coaching and reinforcement of culture.
• Assist with local partnerships and brand-building activities.
