Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET technologist to support a fast-paced, multi-site environment across Anna Jacques Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Heywood (Athol location) & Marlborough. This float position features a 4-day, 10-hour shift schedule with patient-centered care and ARRT/NMTCB certification emphasis.

The role requires state licensure, CPR, nuclear medicine experience, IV skills, and strong safety practices as you work with radiopharmaceuticals and PET imaging protocols.

Qualifications

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) employed.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• Minimum of one year nuclear medicine experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Proficient in starting IVs.
• Able to sit at a computer for extended periods and assist mobility.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
