Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET Technologist to provide a professional, caring atmosphere while maintaining a fast-paced clinical environment. You will operate PET equipment, ensure patient safety, and communicate exam details clearly to patients and Radiologists.

Requirements include a state license, CPR, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and at least one year of nuclear medicine experience. The role emphasizes patient comfort, accurate data entry, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• One year of nuclear medicine experience required.
• Must hold state license to practice.
• ARRT and/or NMTCB certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient-care skills.
• Proficient in starting IVs.
• Able to sit at a computer for extended periods.
• Able to assist patients with mobility and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Must follow NRC, state regulations, and JCAHO.

Responsibilities

• Follow Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
• Follow rules and regulations established by NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes.
• Perform all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows; assist clerical staff as needed.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
