Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Pet Stylist Apprentice to provide professional grooming services for dogs and other pets in our grooming salon. You will bathe, trim, and style, while prioritizing pet safety and customer satisfaction.

This role offers hands-on grooming experience, growth opportunities such as mentoring and leadership paths, and comprehensive benefits including health coverage, 401(k), PTO, and employee discounts. Weekend/evening availability preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous professional grooming training is required.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not strictly required.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert-level grooming including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning and gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming tools such as clippers, blades, brushes and dryers.
• Prioritize pet safety and comfort and communicate effectively with pet parents.
• Assess coat type, skin conditions and temperament to tailor grooming.
• Train, support or supervise entry-level trainees when needed.
