Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pet Stylist to provide professional grooming services for dogs and cats. You will bathe, trim, style, and maintain nails, ears, and grooming tools with attention to safety and animal well-being.

You’ll work in a grooming salon environment with opportunities for career development, a supportive team, and scheduling that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. A passion for animals and strong communication with pet parents are essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving, using grooming skills to solve routine to moderately complex situations
• Results-driven with commitment to productivity and ownership of grooming role
• Strong attention to detail to ensure grooming services meet high standards
• Genuine passion for animals and desire to continue a grooming career
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements and behaviors
• High proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques and grooming standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and team members
• Capable of handling pets of all sizes with care and empathy
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nails, ears and gland cleaning
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers)
• Prioritize safety and well-being of pets and deliver high customer satisfaction
• Train or support entry-level trainees when Grooming Salon Leader is unavailable
• Interact professionally with pet parents and offer grooming recommendations and home care guidance
• Maintain a clean, safe grooming area and comply with hygiene policies
• Ensure adherence to Petco grooming policies and standards
