Job summary

Tenafly Veterinary Center is seeking a dedicated and client‑focused part-time Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This role welcomes candidates with transferable experience from medical or hospitality sectors. Comprehensive onboarding will be provided, with a strong focus on veterinary workflows and terminology.

Expect a supportive environment and a commitment to pets and their families. Salary ranges from $18 to $22 per hour, based on skills and experience, with a fixed part-time schedule

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of front desk/receptionist/customer service experience in medical, dental, urgent care, veterinary, or high-volume service environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution.
• Experience with appointment scheduling, multi-line phone systems, data entry, and payment processing/point of sale.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in clients and patients at the front desk with a professional and welcoming manner.
• Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system and direct calls regarding scheduling and services.
• Handle client check-out, including payment processing and scheduling future appointments.
• Provide compassionate customer service to clients experiencing anxiety or distress regarding their pet’s health.
• Enter data accurately and maintain organized records in the practice management system after onboarding.
• Communicate with clinical staff to relay messages and flag urgent situations.
• Maintain a clean, organized reception and waiting area.
