Job summary

Tenafly Veterinary Center is seeking a dedicated, client-focused part-time Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. The role welcomes candidates with transferable experience from medical or hospitality environments, and comprehensive onboarding will be provided.

You will greet clients, manage phone lines, schedule appointments, process payments, and support the clinical staff in a fast-paced, pet-friendly setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of front desk or medical/dental/urgent care or veterinary customer service experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and conflict resolution.
• Experience with appointment scheduling, multi-line phones, data entry, and payments/POS.
• Excellent organization and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new software and workflows.
• Reliable, punctual, professional; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Genuine affinity for animals and comfort in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in clients and patients at the front desk and confirm appointment details.
• Answer multi-line calls, direct inquiries about scheduling, services, and information.
• Perform client check-out, including payments and scheduling future visits.
• Provide compassionate customer service to clients dealing with anxious or distressed pet news.
• Accurate data entry and organized records in the practice management system.
• Communicate with clinical staff to relay messages and flag urgent situations.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming reception and waiting area.
