Job summary

Akumin seeks a full-time PET/CT Technologist to join our Lexington mobile team, primarily supporting the UK site with occasional travel to other Lexington-area locations.

You will ensure patient safety, operate PET/CT systems, and collaborate with radiologists to deliver high-quality imaging studies. Strong communication and technical skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by NMTCB or ARRT(N) is required.
  • State license where applicable.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and proper pre-screening.
  • Maintain radiation safety practices and documentation.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic PET/CT images.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, radiologists and staff.
  • Train new technologists and support staff.
  • Troubleshoot scanner, coach and peripheral equipment as needed.

This role offers a balance of consistency—primarily supporting our UK site—along with some variety through occasional travel to other locations in the greater Lexington area.Our PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET/CT images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.Produces high quality diagnostic imagesEffectively communicates with customers and/or radiologistsTrains new technologists and/or PC'sTrouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).Position Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceCertification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N)State license, as required.CPR certificationAs applicable, valid state driver’s license.Ability to work at several locationsStrong customer service skills.Organizational and multi-tasking skills.Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.Preferred:Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.At Akumin, we invest in the well-being of our employees, so you can bring your best self to work each day.
