Job summary

Austin Urban Vet Center in downtown Austin is looking for a full-time Pet Care Specialist to join our busy dog boarding, cat boarding, and dog daycare facility. You will rotate dogs in supervised playgroups, check guests in and out, feed according to each pet's instructions, provide overnight care, clean and sanitize suites, and deliver friendly customer service to pet parents.

This is a hands-on, year-round position requiring stamina, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety

Qualifications

• Hands-on animal care experience or strong comfort with dogs and cats preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, active environment with physical tasks.
• Willingness to clean, sanitize, feed, monitor playgroups and assist customers.

Responsibilities

• Rotate dogs in and out of supervised playgroups.
• Monitor dog playgroups to ensure safety and positive interactions.
• Check pets in and out for drop-offs and pick-ups.
• Provide exceptional customer service to pet parents.
• Prepare and serve meals according to each pet's instructions.
• Provide overnight care for dogs and cats.
• Clean and maintain pet suites and replace litter as needed.
• Sanitize indoor play areas and manage waste.
• Perform laundry and maintain facility cleanliness.
• Communicate pet needs, behavior, medications, and routine changes to teammates.
• Administer medications as directed, including injections when required.
• Enter pet care notes into the facility software (training provided).
• Transport dogs to the downstairs veterinary clinic when needed.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal-care procedures.
