Job summary

Petco is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a Pet Care Center, support the General Manager, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will guide partners, care for pets, and drive store performance on the sales floor.

You will serve as a trusted leader in the absence of the GM, develop talent, and ensure operational excellence daily, with a focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience with supervisory or management duties.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead store partners to deliver outstanding service and customer loyalty.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of store partners.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and recognition to improve performance and engagement.
• Maintain a clean, organized store reflecting Petco’s brand and values.
• Assist with daily store operations and lead when General Manager is absent.
• Resolve escalated customer concerns quickly and professionally.
