Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary team in delivering top-quality care for dogs, cats, and other animals. You will help prepare examination rooms, assist with patient handling, and perform in-house tests while ensuring a welcoming, efficient environment for clients.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and a dedicated approach to preventive care, with a schedule that may include weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray).
• One year related customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and necessary medical items for the veterinarian or technician.
• Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service and provide client education on preventive care.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests (e.g. heartworm, FeLV, FIV, parvovirus).
• Ensure the cleanliness of the hospital and equipment; assist with housekeeping duties.
