Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians. You will prepare treatment areas, restrain pets during exams, and assist with routine in-house lab tests as allowed by state rules.

You will also help care for hospitalized patients by walking, feeding, and cleaning; bathe pets as needed and maintain a sterile surgical suite. The role requires maintaining hospital cleanliness and performing other duties as assigned to support team

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room for examination and gather necessary medical items and supplies for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests (e.g. canine heartworm, feline leukemia, FIV, canine parvovirus) as allowed by state rules.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients by walking, exercising, feeding, and cleaning cages and pets as advised.
• Bathe and dip pets to treat dermatological conditions as directed by the veterinarian.
• Clean the surgical suite and instruments and maintain hospital cleanliness (laundry, dishes, mopping, trash, etc.).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
